Time display and playback
Last updated
This displays position in time and is the main view for working with tracks and graphs. The view can be zoomed and scrolled horizontally to frame any section of time or view the full duration.
The timeline also has a configurable grid, snapping, and the ability to use markers.
Click the button in the lower left to toggle between the Track View and Graph View.
The current time is displayed by the playhead as a vertical red line with a gold drag handle on top. Drag the playhead to scrub time back or forward, or click anywhere on the timeline bar to go to that time.
The location of the playhead is also indicated in the scroll bar above the time ruler by a thin red vertical line. This shows its relative position to the entire timeline and within the current view and is helpful to spot the location of the playhead when it is outside of the current scroll area.
The time increments displayed in the timeline are based on the Grid and Snap settings.
Start and stop playback Press the Spacebar to start and stop playback. This can be used in both edit and play mode.
Start playback from any spot
Double-click anywhere in the top bar of the timeline to start playing from that time.
Step forward or backward by 1 frame
Use the Page Up and Page Down buttons to go back or advance by 1 frame, based on the FPS.
Snap to the grid
Holding the Alt key while moving the playhead snaps it to the nearest grid line. This works for anything being dragged in time such as keyframes, markers, events, and tracks.
Go to the start or end of the timeline
Use the Home key to go back to the beginning (time 0) and the End key to go to the end of the timeline.
